JONESBORO, Ill. -- Stella Groves, 96, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 16, 1904, at Doniphan, Mo., daughter of Calvin and Emily Stone Wilson. She and Fred Raymond Groves were married Jan. 23, 1924, in Marion, Ill. He died Aug. 16, 1950...

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Stella Groves, 96, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center.

She was born Aug. 16, 1904, at Doniphan, Mo., daughter of Calvin and Emily Stone Wilson. She and Fred Raymond Groves were married Jan. 23, 1924, in Marion, Ill. He died Aug. 16, 1950.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary Balance of Wolf Lake, Ill., Betty Plott of Anna, Ill., JoAnn Ondrak of Salt Lake City, Utah, Doris Phillips of Niceville, Fla., Lois Scholz of Vienna, Va.; a son, Paul Groves of Anna; 32 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two granddaughters and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
