Funeral service for Sophia C. Vaughn of Cape Girardeau will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Jeffrey Sippy will officiate. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, with the Rev. Gary Byers officiating.

Vaughn, 80, died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 9, 1916, in Jackson, daughter of Karl Louis Henry and Minnie A. Pensel Heider. She and Paul Baldwin Vaughn were married Jan. 9, 1939, in Cape Girardeau. He died Dec. 22, 1990.

Vaughn lived in Belleville, Ill., from 1960 until moving to the Lutheran Home a year ago. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belleville.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Vaughn of Albany, Ca.; six daughters, Rosalee Schultz of Overland Park, Kan., Kay Carroll of Cape Girardeau, Mary Vaughn-Luhman of Gaithersburg, Md., Sharon Vaughn of Belleville, Karen O'Carroll of Chandler, Ariz., Deborah Shank of Jackson; two brothers, Martin Heider of Willow Springs, Carlton Heider of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
