SOPHIA TRANEL

Sophia Irene Tranel, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at her home. She was born Dec. 28, 1904, in Bollinger County, daughter of William Jefferson and Josie Bell Kinder Slinkard. She married Anthony Tranel, who died in 1972. Tranel lived most of her adult life in St. Louis. She had been a civil service employee with the U.S. Government. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1978 and was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral...

Sophia Irene Tranel, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at her home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1904, in Bollinger County, daughter of William Jefferson and Josie Bell Kinder Slinkard. She married Anthony Tranel, who died in 1972.

Tranel lived most of her adult life in St. Louis. She had been a civil service employee with the U.S. Government. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1978 and was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.

Survivors include a brother, Lyman Slinkard, and a sister, Willa Minton, both of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-7 p.m. today.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
