Sonita Runnels

POCAHONTAS, Mo. --Sonita J. Runnels, 57, of Pocahontas died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at her home.

She was born Nov. 1, 1948, in Delavan, Ill., daughter of Roy E. and Zelma A. Gibson Detmers. She and Jeffery S. Runnels were married Aug. 1, 1981.

Runnels and her husband owned and operated the Borderline Bar and Grill in Shawneetown. She had also worked in other restaurant establishments in the area.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Marshall Steen of Jackson, Adam and Truan Runnels of Pocahontas; two daughters, Kassy James of Marble Hill and Jamie Runnels of Pocahontas; her mother of Delavan; a brother, Wayne Detmers, of Delavan; a sister, Wilma Brenneman of Leroy, Ill.; and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m at the funeral chapel.
