Sister Mary Clarence Lanahan, 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 1994, at Villa Gesu, the retirement and health care center of School Sisters of Notre Dame in St. Louis. She was prinicpal at Notre Dame High School from 1964-70. Lanahan was born in 1905 in Nokomis, Ill. Sister Mary Clarence Lanahan, 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 1994, at Villa Gesu, the retirement and health care center of School Sisters of Notre Dame in St. Louis.

She was prinicpal at Notre Dame High School from 1964-70.

Lanahan was born in 1905 in Nokomis, Ill. She received a bachelor of arts degree in English and a master of arts degree from St. Louis University.

She served in high schools in Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, California, Louisiana and Mississippi. She retired in 1973 due to failing eyesight, but continued working in the SSND heritage room and writing obituaries of sisters from 1982-87. She retired at Villa Gesu in 1990.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Villa Gesu.
