WHEATON, Ill. — Sister Julianne Diebold, at age 95, breathed into the fullness of God on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at the Wheaton Franciscan Motherhouse in Wheaton.
She entered the Franciscan order in 1951 and professed perpetual vows in 1957.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Ressel and Denis Diebold; her sisters, Susan Diebold, Mary (Sister Flora) Diebold, Brigitta Toler, Caroline Seiler, Philomene Buhs and Josephine (Sister Denise) Diebold; and brothers, Albert, George, Anton and Andrew Diebold.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Sister Julianne served as a seamstress and fabric artist in the order’s missions in Racine and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as in Waterloo, Iowa, and Wheaton. She lovingly cared for sisters in her service as assistant directress and community coordinator in Milwaukee and Wheaton.
Everywhere, she companioned others with a large heart and wise smile with a twinkle in her eye. She had one desire: to be a manifestation of our loving God. And thus lived Sister Julianne Diebold in her relationships with the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and the hearts of everyone she engaged throughout her almost 96 years of life.
A prayer and wake service will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Our Lady of Angels Convent, 26W171 Roosevelt Road in Wheaton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the convent. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
