CHARLESTON -- Sister Florence Gertrude Duenne, 85, formerly of Mississippi County, died Friday, July 4, 1997, at the Mother House in O'Fallon, Mo.
She was born Oct. 26, 1911, in the Texas Bend Community of Mississippi County, daughter of Henry and Ann Catherine Bruenderman Duenne.
She became a member of the Most Precious Blood Order in 1927 at O'Fallon. While at the Mother House in O'Fallon, she served as a nurse, teacher and housekeeper.
Survivors are two brothers, Henry Duenne and DeSales Duenne, both of rural Charleston; four sisters, Sister Bernardine Duenne, Catherine Showmaker and Rosalia Scherer, all of Cape Girardeau, and Monica Dirnberger of New Hamburg; and nieces and newphews.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. The Rev. Rich Lause will serve as celebrant. Burial will be in the Texas Bend Cemetery. McMikle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
