Sister Augusta Catherine Georger, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born July 17, 1916, at Kelso, daughter of Charles and Louise Schoen Georger.
Georger received a degree in teaching from Southeast Missouri State University. She entered the Wheaton Franciscan Community in 1946.
She served the Community of Sisters in Colorado, Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri. Georger taught at St. Augustine School in Kelso, worked in religious education at St. Francis Xavier Church in Sikeston, and later was a chaplain in pastoral care at St. Francis Medical Center.
Survivors include a brother, Lucas Georger of Advance; four sisters, Sister Elaine Georger of Cape Girardeau, Coena Dambach of Malden, Alvena Lett of Scott City, and Marina Georger of Chaffee.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4-8 p.m. today. The parish rosary will be recited at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, with the Revs. Oliver Clavin and Randy Tochtrop officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
