Silas Smith

Silas Franklin Smith, 60, of Whitewater, formerly of Anna, Ill., and Jackson, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his home.

He was born Sept. 26, 1951, in Mound City, Ill., to Frank and Henrietta Rainbolt Smith.

He worked many years in the city of Anna maintenance department.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Smith of Whitewater; five children, Janette (James) Hinkebein of Jackson, Deryl Wright, Valerie (Anthony) Merriweather and Shara Smith of Anna, Lenny King of Orlando, Fla.; his mother, Henrietta Meisenheimer of Anna; five grandchildren, Mason and Madison Hinkebein, Amiyah Merriweather, Ethan and Andrew Wright; two brothers, Mike Rainbolt of Ashland, Ky., Tommy Smith of Anna; a sister, Karen Dover of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Smith.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Mann officiating. Interment will be in Big Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
