Shirley N. Welter, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Life Care Center.
She was born Dec. 26, 1929, in Grand Tower, Ill., to Jesse L. and Selma Grace Conrad Anderson. She married Elmer J. Welter March 13, 1947. He preceded her in death March 23, 1994.
Shirley was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She loved ceramics and crafts and volunteered at the Missouri Veterans Home. She was a floral designer many years with Town and Country Florist.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Kermit) Gerhardt of Jackson; a son, Richard E. Welter of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Jessica (Rob) Shackles, Jason (Jennifer) Stovall, JoAnna (Jason) Sams; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda, Hannah and Leah Shackles, Abbygayle and Naythan Stovall, Levi and Luke Sams; three stepgrandchildren, Krystal (Tom) Finkbeiner, Kevin (Jennifer) Gerhardt, Keisha (Keith) Simmons; five great-stepgrandchildren, Jordan and Ryan Finkbeiner, Kamden Gerhardt, Kevin and Kaden Simmons; two sisters, Pauline Heuer and Betty Violette; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Carroll, Earl and Harold Anderson.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating. Private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Crain Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Southeast Hospice, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
