Shirley Ann Talley, 83, of Cape Girardeau lost her battle with Parkinson's disease Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Chateau Girardeau, and went to be with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

She was born May 25, 1940, in Jackson, daughter of Roy Alvine Bollinger and Maggie Alene Goehman.

Shirley was a 1958 graduate of Jackson High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Gene Talley, on May 31, 1959. They were happily married 64 years upon her death.

She loved many things, namely her three boys, her church and her community. She was deeply involved with her church and lived a life of many charitable works and volunteerism.

Loving survivors include her husband, Robert Gene Talley of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Jeffrey Robert Talley (Cynthia) of Mission Hills, Kansas, and James Kent Talley (Becky) and Scott Allen Talley (Colleen), both of Jackson. Seven grandchildren are Sarah McConkey (Calan) of Liberty, Missouri; Alexandra Swab (Jack) of Prairie Village, Kansas; Bo Talley of West Palm Beach, Florida; Reagan Talley of St. Charles, Missouri; Hannah Talley and Nick Talley, both of Jackson; and Ean Buffington (Sydney) of Rolla, Missouri. Five great-grandchildren are John "J.J." Swab, Catherine "Talley" Swab, Ford Swab, Whittier McConkey and Teller McConkey.

Shirley is also survived by five siblings, Michael Bollinger of Jackson, Roy Bollinger Jr. of Jackson, Mary Meyer of St. Louis, Karen Smith of Jackson and Beverly Nelson of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Roy; mother, Maggie; and brother, Harold "Butch" Bollinger.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 21, at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at the church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers contributions be given to Lynwood Baptist Church.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
