Shirley Ann Schaper, 72, of Old Appleton passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Feb. 15, 1952, in Perryville to Otto W. and Bernice F. Hennemann Clements. Shirley and Thomas E. Schaper were married on Oct. 16, 1976, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek and were blessed with 47 years of marriage.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Apple Creek, American Legion Post No. 133 Auxiliary in Perryville and Healthpoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau.

Shirley was a beautician and homemaker and filled their home with love and laughter. She loved caring for and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at Healthpoint Fitness.

Survivors include her husband; children, Kacey (Andrew) Seabaugh of Oak Ridge, Tyler Schaper and Candice (Stephan) Deckerd, both of Perryville, and Kelsey (Dustin) Deckerd of Daisy; seven grandchildren, Garrett and Allison Seabaugh, Olivia Schaper, Miles Deckerd, Kaelyn, Brayden and Kynlee Deckerd.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Clements.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville and continue from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at the church, with the Rev. Michael Benz officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Apple Creek.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek.
