Shirley Ann Reimann, 79, of Fruitland passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 5, 1938, in Delta, daughter of Benjamin Elvis and Neva Marie Shelton Dunning. She and Carl Reimann married Aug. 20, 1960, at Delta Baptist Church. They had been married nearly 55 years when he passed away July 16, 2015.
Shirley was a graduate of Delta High School. She attended Hannibal LeGrange College and later graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in education. Her 41-year teaching career included one year in the Woodland School District in Palmyra, Missouri, eight years in the Delta School District and 32 years as a second-grade teacher in the Jackson School District. She was a charter member of the Fruitland Community Church and was active on the social committee.
Loving survivors include a son, Kevin Eugene "Gene" Reimann of Fruitland; two daughters, Carla (David) Aufdenberg of Jackson and Cheryl Collins of Fruitland; seven grandchildren, Kyle and Tommy Aufdenberg, Carley (Brent) Ellis, Cierra Reimann, Collin and Coltin Reimann and Caylee Collins; two great-grandchildren, Dezahri and Major Dennard; and three siblings, Jerry "Son" (Joyce) Dunning of Florida, Sharon (Jimmy) Russom and Larry (Janet) Dunning of Delta.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Kinder.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Chapel A of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Parry officiating. Interment will be in Hitt Cemetery near Arbor.
