Shirley J. Porter-Leimer, 79, of Jackson passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was the daughter of the Rev. Ralph and Juanita Small Porter. Shirley J. Porter-Leimer, 79, of Jackson passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was the daughter of the Rev. Ralph and Juanita Small Porter. She was born Sept. 20, 1935 at Lutesville, Missouri. She married Kenneth Leimer on March 4, 1989. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 2009.

Shirley graduated from Campbell High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and earned her master's degree from the University of Missouri. She later attended Saint Louis University to further her studies in social work.

For more than 30 years, Shirley was employed by the state of Missouri at various agencies and teaching social work. She retired Jan. 1, 1998. She was a very active member in Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include her cousin Donald Porter of Fishkill, New York, and several friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents; and her brother, Ralph W. Porter Jr.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Tony Kobak officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hanover Lutheran Church or to the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
