Shirley Jean Nunley, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, May 23, 2015, at her home. She was born Sept. 24, 1947, in Steele, Missouri, to Clarence Brown and Pearlie Johnson Curry. She and Joe W. Nunley were married Dec. 27, 1968, in Cape Girardeau. Shirley was a member of New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church. She was a baby sitter for many children through the years and also had been a custodian at Southeast Missouri State University...

Shirley Jean Nunley, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, May 23, 2015, at her home.

She was born Sept. 24, 1947, in Steele, Missouri, to Clarence Brown and Pearlie Johnson Curry. She and Joe W. Nunley were married Dec. 27, 1968, in Cape Girardeau.

Shirley was a member of New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church. She was a baby sitter for many children through the years and also had been a custodian at Southeast Missouri State University.

Survivors include her parents, Clarence Brown of Lansing, Michigan, and Pearlie Curry of St. Louis; husband, Joe W. Nunley of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Joe W. (Tamra) Nunley Jr. and Marvin D. (Carolyn) Nunley of Cape Girardeau and Christopher S. (Lawanda) Nunley of St. Louis; two daughters, Alice Nunley and Malissa (Charles) Thompson of Cape Girardeau; seven brothers; seven sisters; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Great Dimension Ministries in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Mr. Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
