Shirley Jean Sander Dippold, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, at Lutheran Home.
She was born Oct. 27, 1927, to Charles Henry and Olga Minnie Meyer Sander in Jackson.
She graduated from Jackson High School and attended Southeast Missouri State Teachers College until her husband returned from service in the U.S. Navy.
Shirley and Hugo Gerhard Dippold were married Nov. 9, 1944. He survives.
Shirley was known for her beautiful smile. She was a talented soloist and pianist, an accomplished seamstress, and a superb cook. First and foremost, she loved and cared for her family.
For the past 63 years, Shirley was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. As an active church member, she sang in the choir, taught the nursery Sunday school, participated in the Kennedy Evangelism program, and led a women's Bible study.
Survivors include her husband of 76 years, Hugo Dippold; daughter, Ann (Ken) Green of Cape Girardeau; son, Robert Dippold of St. Louis; two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Driskell of Bloomington, Illinois, and Kelley (Jacob) Rogers of Columbia, Missouri; and five great-grandchildren, Liam and Calista Driskell and Luke, Natalie and Emily Rogers.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Charles W. Sander and Leonard F. Sander.
Visitation will be at noon today at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. today at the church, with Pastor John Dehne officiating. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
