ZALMA, Mo. -- Shirley Mae Carlton, 89, of Zalma passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at her home. She was born Oct. 23, 1930, at Greenbrier, Missouri, the daughter of Leo and Letha Ladd Whitehead. Shirley and Clinton Carlton were united in marriage Sept. 21, 1946, in Advance, Missouri. After 67 years of marriage, he preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2013...

ZALMA, Mo. -- Shirley Mae Carlton, 89, of Zalma passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at her home.

She was born Oct. 23, 1930, at Greenbrier, Missouri, the daughter of Leo and Letha Ladd Whitehead. Shirley and Clinton Carlton were united in marriage Sept. 21, 1946, in Advance, Missouri. After 67 years of marriage, he preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2013.

She leaves behind a daughter, Sharon Faye (Larry) Carlton of Kalamazoo, Michigan; sons, Roger Lynn (Debbie) Carlton of Zalma and Stephen (Sue) Carlton of Zalma; daughter-in-law, Judy Carlton of Gordonville; grandchildren, Christy Brugger, Angie Carlton, Clint Carlton, Laura Yoder, Robyn Thatcher, Michelle Brown, Lynn Carlton, Douglas Carlton and Ashley Carter; a host of great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janice Snider and Mary Lee Fisher, both of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Donna Hellirigs of Panama City, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Leslie Dee Carlton; brothers, Bill, Garry and Ronald Whitehead; sister, Jean Fortner; and her parents-in-law.

A private family burial will be held at Balch Cemetery near Zalma. The Rev. Brian Gill will officiate.

Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
