Shirley May Buchheit, 87, of Friedheim died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, in Cape Girardeau. Shirley was born Sept. 8, 1935, in Friedheim, daughter of Edwin P. and Ethel B. Meyers Kurre. She and Leo Elmer Buchheit were married May 1, 1954, at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, Missouri. He preceded her in death July 27, 2020...

Shirley May Buchheit, 87, of Friedheim died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, in Cape Girardeau.

Shirley was born Sept. 8, 1935, in Friedheim, daughter of Edwin P. and Ethel B. Meyers Kurre. She and Leo Elmer Buchheit were married May 1, 1954, at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, Missouri. He preceded her in death July 27, 2020.

Shirley was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. She was the bookkeeper for Elmer Buchheit Construction, retiring in 2000. Upon retirement, Shirley and Elmer became "snowbirds," traveling in their RV to Arizona for the winter months.

Shirley was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include her son, Brad Buchheit of Jackson; three grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Eftink of Chaffee, Missouri, Stefanie (Greg) Kanneberg of Oak Ridge and Zachary (Daniele) Buchheit of Friedheim; and three great-grandchildren, Beka Newell and Madelyn and Brayden Eftink.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Crites; brother-in-law, Kelly Crites; and beloved daughter-in-law, Cathey Buchheit.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Alex Sutachan officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
