Shirley Ann Brown, 79, of Scott City passed away Friday, July 24, 2020, at her home.
She was born Feb. 6, 1941, in Pocahontas to Alfred and Rosa Thauwald Koeberl. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. After dating her high school sweetheart, Otis “Elmer” Brown, for more than four years, they were married April 26, 1959, just weeks before Shirley’s graduation from Jackson High School.
Shirley was a homemaker and truly loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed music and taught herself to play the piano and guitar. Other interests included reading, flower gardening and sewing.
Shirley was a member of Illmo Baptist Church.
Loving survivors include her husband of 61 years, Elmer Brown of Scott City; four children, Rhonda Brown and Sandra Brown of Scott City, Teresa (Carl) Brawley of West Plains, Missouri, and Rick Brown of Fruitland; a sister, Velma Hecht of St. Charles, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Koeberl.
Visitation was Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral was also Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Patrick Tankersley and Chad Bles officiating. Burial followed at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pocahontas.
