Shirley E. Boswell, 61, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, Calif., after a long illness. She and H. Wayne Boswell, formerly of Cape Girardeau and Phoenix, Ariz., were married Sept. 17, 1979. Shirley was born in Tallahassee, Fla., Feb. 16, 1941, daughter of Jean and Hazel Carter...

Shirley E. Boswell, 61, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, Calif., after a long illness.

She and H. Wayne Boswell, formerly of Cape Girardeau and Phoenix, Ariz., were married Sept. 17, 1979.

Shirley was born in Tallahassee, Fla., Feb. 16, 1941, daughter of Jean and Hazel Carter.

She graduated from Torrance, Calif., High School in 1960. She was a member of the Woman's Golf Association at Wilcox Oaks Golf Club in Red Bluff, Calif.

Mrs. Boswell is survived by her loving husband; seven children, Vicky Hamrick of Gilbert, Ariz., Bridget Nishimura of Wapaihu, Hawaii, Yvonne Hedstrom of Turlock, Calif., Patrick Montgomery of Avondale, Ariz., Debbie Bambulas of Scottsdale, Ariz., Robert Boswell of Belle Chase, La., Dennis Boswell of Glendale, Ariz.; her father of Red Bluff; a sister, Sandra Marquez of Ventura, Calif.; a brother, Frank Walters of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Jackie Givens of Cape Girardeau, Jeffry Hawk of Jackson, Johanna Boslin of Phoenix; and 17 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

A memorial celebration of Shirley's life will be held at noon Nov. 30, 2002, at the Boswell home at 22411 Adobe Road in Red Bluff, which overlooks the beautiful Sacramento River. Part of her remains will be scattered along the bank of the Sacramento River which adjoins her home that she loved so dearly. The remainder of her ashes will be interred in a burial plot in Memorial Park in Phoenix.

Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers in Red Bluff is in charge of arrangements.
