Sherry Voigt

CAIRO, Ill. — Sherry L. Voigt, 56, of Cairo died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 20, 1952, in Cairo, daughter of Walter B. and Emma Kay Meredith Martin. She married Donald Thomas Voigt.

Voigt was a member of Caledonia Community Church in Olmsted, Ill.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cheryl Watkins of Sikeston, Mo.; two sons, Thomas Voigt of Metropolis, Ill., and David Voigt of Havana, Ill.; four brothers, Walter Martin Jr. of McClure, Ill., Steve and Don Martin of Tamms, Ill., Ed Martin of Herrin, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, Ill.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Caledonia Community Church, with the Rev. John Windings officiating. Burial will be in Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill.
