Sharon West, 63, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Southeast Hospital, surrounded by family.

She was born March 7, 1954, in Perryville, Missouri, to the late Antone and Merle Emmendorfer Wibbenmeyer. Sharon married Gary West on Feb. 19, 1977, in Perryville.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. She worked for more than 30 years at the Cape Girardeau Walmart.

Sharon enjoyed gardening, anything that would grow: flowers, vegetables and plants. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren, who always made her smile. Her love and compassion for helping others was what made her happy. Her faith in Jesus was the strength that helped her persevere through her battle with multiple myeloma.

Loving survivors include her husband of 40 years, Gary West; children, Jessica (Richard) Haws, and their children, Aaron and Blake Haws; Bryan West, and daughter, Emma Bishop; James West; Brittney (Christopher) Soltys, and their children, Ava, Lilly and Charlotte Soltys; brother, Larry Wibbenmeyer; sisters, Doris (Jim) Rehkop, Diana (Jerry) Balsman, Jane (the late Etson) Steele, Faye (Steve) Bohnert and Linda Wibbenmeyer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wayne and James Wibbenmeyer; and brother-in-law, Etson Steele.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial donations may be given to the Mayo Clinic to help with research on multiple myeloma, Department of Development, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
