Sharon A. Schwarz, 72, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, May 25, 2018, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.

She was born July 24, 1945, in Chicago to Nicholas and Lillian Schwarz.

A graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago, Sharon also earned a master's degree in mathematics from Southeast Missouri State University. Sharon was a dedicated and caring teacher who spent the majority of her career at Marquand Zion, teaching mathematics to grades seven to 12. In 1993, she was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in teaching mathematics.

Reading and gardening were some of the hobbies she enjoyed, but she particularly loved singing and was a member of the local singing group Sweet Adeline's for many years.

Loving survivors include a nephew, Michael (Angela) Marston, and two great-nephews, Nicholas and Caden Marston, both of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Marlene Croy (1993) and Betty Jean Schwarz (1995).

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in New Lorimer Cemetery.
