Sharon Smith Fronabarger, 71, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at her home in Jackson. Surrounded by her loved ones, she died peacefully of stage 4 lung cancer.
She was born Oct. 9, 1942, in Cape Girardeau to Dale E. and Hyacinth Hoffmeister Smith. She married Randy Fronabarger in 1964.
Sharon was a 1960 graduate of Jackson High School. She earned her LPN in 1984. She worked as a nurse for the late Dr. Charles Herbert in Cape Girardeau, and then worked many years for Orthopedic Associates in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 2001.
Loving survivors include three children, Lane Fronabarger (Kris Sneed) of Jackson; Julie (Brian) Hahs and children Megan and Max Gray and Cassie, Zach and Landon Hahs, all of Jackson; and Garrett (Erika) Fronabarger and children Loreli, Ike and Vivian, all of St. Louis; and a brother, Charlie (Carolyn) Smith of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to time of service Monday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Ron Hahs officiating.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Lung Association.
