Scott McCants

Scott McCants, 48, of Jackson died Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Dec. 24, 1972, in Dexter, Missouri, to James Earl McCants and Mona S. Rubel.

Scott was a 1992 Sikeston (Missouri) High School graduate.

He was an entrepreneur of several different businesses.

Scott was a local musician, playing guitar for various popular local bands. In addition, he was an avid motorcyclist and loved cars and drag racing. He enjoyed fishing and also loved to eat.

Survivors include his mother, Mona Petty of Jackson; father, James (Betty) McCants of Sikeston; son, Ashton McCants of Jackson; sisters, Brooke (Luke) Petty-Canada of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jaime McCants of Sikeston; stepbrother, Jason Looney of East Prairie, Missouri; and Ashton's mother, Leslie (Jerry) Looney of Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to Ford and Sons Funeral Home or Mona Petty to assist with funeral expenses.
