Saundra Jean Abernathy, 61, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at her home.
She was born Thursday, May 17, 1956, in Cape Girardeau to Melvin Edwin and Bessie Viola Moore Ruebel.
Survivors include children, Amy Wilson (Lee Hornbostel) of Chester, Illinois, and Jason (Jami) Ruebel of Cape Girardeau; seven siblings, J.R. Ruebel, Lee Ruebel, Roger Ruebel, Pat Alexander, Phillis McLain, Debbie Hudson and Kevin Ruebel; grandchildren, Timothy, Kilah Natalie and Ryleah, who made her happy when skies were gray; and her companion, John “Doc” Dubin of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Ruebel.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Excelsior Lodge No. 441 A.F. & A.M., 204 S. High St. in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
