SARAH CASTLE

MOUNDS, Ill. -- Funeral for Sarah E. Castle of Mounds will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill. The Rev. Herman Painter will officiate. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until service time.

Castle, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Daystar Nursing Center in Cairo, Ill.

She was born June 8, 1912, in St. Charles, Mo., daughter of John and Arzona Law Walker. She married Dave P. Castle, who died in 1972.

Castle was a charter member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and member of Senior Citizens Smiles I Center.

Survivors include a son, Walter "Buddy" Castle of North Kingstown, R.I.; a brother, John Walker of Lakeview, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, and a grandson.
