PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Sandra E. Koenig, 70, of Perryville died Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 5, 1948, in Steelville, Illinois, daughter of Harold and Edith Lehmberg Alms. She and Dale D. Koenig were married June 14, 1969. He survives in Perryville.

She had been an administrative assistant at Perry County Health Department. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served on the P.R. board and Spirit Within and Banner committees, and she served on the Friedenberg Historical Society board for 38 years.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Koenig of Frohna, Missouri; one daughter, Deacon Jessica (the Rev. Michael) Feldmann of Salem, Illinois; one son-in-law, Michael Hornberger of Perryville; one brother and two sisters, Marilyn (the Rev. Donald) Sandmann of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Roberta (Ryan) Rutherford of Thornfield, Missouri, and the Rev. Maurice (Linda) Alms of Troy, Illinois; and seven grandchildren, Madison Hornberger, Britney Koenig, Dalton Hornberger, Joseph Koenig, Alleena Koenig, Faith Feldmann and Heath Feldmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Heather Hornberger; three sisters, Vivian Earlenbaugh, Eunice Alms and Loretta Schuette; and two brothers, Donald Alms and Royce Alms.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

She will then be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church for the funeral at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran School in Centralia, Illinois, and Friedenberg Historical Society in Perryville.
