Samuel Davis Shrum, 82, of Jackson died Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at Woodland Hills in Marble Hill, Missouri.
Born on Sept. 13, 1936, in Scopus, Missouri, he was the son of Jesse Ephriam and Frances Cecil Black Shrum. He and Margaret Ruth Hope were married Oct. 15, 1966. She preceded him in death Jan. 30, 2000.
Sam graduated from Patton (Missouri) High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. He had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic during his lifetime.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Dan) Strohmeyer of Fenton, Missouri, and Joseph (Theresa) Shrum of Jackson; sister, Jean Gilliland of Jackson; two sisters-in law, Mabel Shrum of Cape Girardeau and Anna Shrum of Perryville, Missouri; and two brothers-in-law, D.H. Hope of Dallas and Harold Moore of Cape Girardeau.
Four brothers and four sisters predeceased him.
There will be no memorial service. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery near Marble Hill at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Plainview Cemetery, c/o Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.
