Samuel Elwood Rhodes, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Aug. 27, 2021 at St Louis University Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 8, 1954, in Cape Girardeau to Samuel Wesley and Ruth Jones Rhodes.
He graduated from Cape Central High School in 1972 and Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science in business administration in 1986.
Samuel had a big loving smile, he was a Cardinals' fan and had a love for watching movies
He worked with his father painting and roofing houses. After graduating he became a counselor for State of Missouri Mental Health.
Survivors include two brothers, Larry Swader and Vernon (Doris) Swader, both of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Rose Mary Clover of Fruitland; many nieces and nephews; and his constant feline companion, Calli.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.
The family is encouraging anyone that attends the visitation or funeral service to wear a mask.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Hobbs Chapel Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Kidney Foundation.
