DONGOLA, Ill. -- Samuel Peeler, 91, of Spring Valley, Calif., died Friday, April 5, 1996, at Lemon Grove Nursing Center in Lemon Grove, Calif.
He was born Sept. 27, 1904, in Dongola, son of Grant and Amy Hartline Peeler. He and Flora Dillow were married June 27, 1925, in Cairo.
Peeler had been a security guard at McGraw in Kevil, Ky., and at General Dynamics in San Diego, Calif. He was a member of First Baptist Church in National City, Calif. He was a former member of First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge in Dongola.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bonard Peeler of Downsville, La., Carmen Peeler of National City; a daughter, Nadeen Jones of Spring Valley; a sister, Mattie Christian of Perks; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Dongola, with the Revs. Myron and Donald Dillow officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, and at First Baptist Church from 2 p.m. to service time.
