SIKESTON -- Sammy T. Brown, 60, of rural Sikeston died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Sikeston Convalescent Center. He was born April 5, 1939, in Philadelphia, Miss., son of Henry and Dasie Campbell Brown. He and Barbara Ruth Brookshire were married Feb. 24, 1960...

SIKESTON -- Sammy T. Brown, 60, of rural Sikeston died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

He was born April 5, 1939, in Philadelphia, Miss., son of Henry and Dasie Campbell Brown. He and Barbara Ruth Brookshire were married Feb. 24, 1960.

Brown was a farmer most of his life. He was a member of Greer Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, chairman of its Deacons Board, and former Sunday School superintendent.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Sammy and Johnny Brown of Sikeston, David Brown of Florida, Micheal Brown of Blytheville, Ark.; six daughters, Lisa Williams and Jennifer Brown of Sikeston, Angela Brown of Goldsboro, N.C., Beverly Brown of Kansas City, Kan., Terika and Ashley Brown of the home.

Also surviving are two brothers, Jimmie and Henry Brown of Haywood City; three sisters, Helen Johnson of Haywood City, Dorothy Brown of Saginaw, Mich., Sylvia Jamison of Freeport, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, including Dashyla Brown of the home; a great-grandson; and six foster children.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Greer Chapel Church from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with Roy Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Williams-Farr and Purcell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
