SIKESTON, Mo. -- Sammie Presson Hise Sr., 68, died Monday, June 27, 2022, at his home near Sikeston.
Born Nov. 30, 1953, to the late Otis Hise and Ruth Mae Brenton White, Sammie kept his home in the Bootheel. On Dec. 15, 1972, he married Judy Myers Hise, who survives of the home.
He worked for CGB Waterfront for 45 years, until his retirement in 2015. Many considered it an honor to have worked for and to have known Sam. His greatest honor from his career was when the company named a newly built boat after him in 2018. May his legacy continue on while that boat sails the Mississippi.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Samina and Matt Odle of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Sammie (Belinda) Hise of Sikeston, Michael Hise of Bertrand, Missouri, and Jeremy Hise of Sikeston; sisters, Janet (Doug) Pierce of Gosnell, Arkansas; Evita Rowland of Camden, Tennessee; and Theresa Smith of Redwood Falls, Minnesota; brothers, J.T. (Cledith) Hise of West Plains, Missouri, and Ricky Hise of Gosnell; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Sammie was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheena Hise; grandson, Bradyn Hise; four brothers, Arnold, O.J., Ray and Alfred Hise; two sisters, Leona Hise and Georgia Calton; and his stepfather, Max White.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Missouri.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Zack Strong officiating. Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Hise, Shaun Goodwin, Johnathan Northern, Seth Arnold, Hunter Hise and Landen Savage.
