CAIRO, Ill. -- Salome Genevieve Reisinger, 87, of Cairo died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo. She was born Aug. 2, 1912, in Cairo, daughter of Albert and Catherine Beck Schmaeng. She and Isom Reisinger were married. He died in 1957.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, the Daughters of Isabella, the American Legion Auxiliary and the American Cancer Society. She was a graduate of the St. Mary's Hospital of Nursing in Cairo and was a registered nurse at the hospital before retiring. Survivors include eight daughters, Ruth Marcy of San Jose, Calif., Mary Wehrle of La Coma, Ann Pica of Fairbury, Ill., Rita Kupris of Sherman, Rose Reisinger of Cairo, Lorreta Reisinger of Springfield, Ill., Agnes Wehrenberg of Villa Ridge, Ill., and Martha Du Bois of Murphysboro, Ill.; four sons, Frederick Reisinger of Ashton, Ill., William Reisinger of Oak Dale, Conn., Michael Reisinger of Schenectady, N.Y., and David Reisinger of Carterville, Ill.; a brother, John Schmaeng of Rockton, Ill.; 30 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, with the Revs. Jerome Fortenberry and Bill McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Villa Ridge.
