Ruth Virginia Young, 81, of Scott City died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 9, 1929, in East Prairie, Mo., to James and Flora Jane Fitzgerald Eaves. She and Charles Herman Young Jr. were married Jan. 21, 1945, in Scott City. He preceded her in death March 10, 1971.
Young retired in 1995 from Southwestern Bell Telephone/AT&T where she was a service observer. She was of the Baptist belief.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Barbara) Young of St. Charles, Mo., Randy (Karen) Young of Scott City; six granddaughters, Angie (Shane) Grissom, Tammy (Chris) Miller, Debbie (Steve) Survant, Lori, Nyssa and Sara Young; five great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Zachary Grissom and Alex, Jacob and Grace Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, J.D. Eaves.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Pat Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
