FARRAR, Mo. -- Ruth L. Verseman, 91, of Farrar died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born March 18, 1920, in Farrar, daughter of Henry C. and Ernestine Koenig Kassel. She and Edwin J. Verseman were married May 24, 1942. He preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1998.
Mrs. Verseman was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Salem Ladies Aid and Salem Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She loved her Lord and spending time with her family; she enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding the birds.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda A. (Don) Wolfinger of Chesterfield, Mo., Helen L. (Robert) Heeszel of St. Louis; four brothers, Leonard Kassel of Farrar, Eugene Kassel of Frohna, Mo., Elvin and Norbert Kassel of Perryville, Mo.; two sisters, Louise Mahnken of Farrar, Vivian Schirmer of Altenburg, Mo.; four grandchildren, John (Amy) Verseman, Anne (Jason) Knollman, Sara (Adam) Wedel, all of St Louis, Susan (Doug) Fiehler of Sahuarita, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Benjamin and Hannah Verseman, Anna and Kate Wedel, Ellen and Jacob Fiehler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Lloyd Verseman; a grandson, Jason Verseman; a sister, Verna Mahnken; and a brother, Raymond Kassel.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 8 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Salem Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hour.
