Ruth Estes Sturm, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 5, 1920, at Marble Hill, Mo., daughter of Sylvester and Maude McGlothlin Estes. She and Ferd Sturm were married Dec. 4, 1942, in Cape Girardeau.
Sturm was a 1938 graduate of Central High School. She worked at Southeast Missouri Telephone Co. as an operator. She then worked as a librarian at Dexter, Mo., many years. She moved to Jefferson City, Mo., where she lived 13 years. After retiring she moved to Cape Girardeau.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau and active in the women's organizations; member of Exchangettes; life member of Order of Eastern Star; member of St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary; and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary in Jefferson City.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Martha Sue Sturm of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Dallas Estes of Jackson, Mo., Carl Mac Estes of Cape Girardeau; and a granddaughter, Jill Sturm of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Michael Sturm.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Phillip N. Curran will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association or First Christian Church Building Fund.
