LAKE OF EGYPT, Ill. -- Ruth Evelyn Shadowens, 63, of Lake of Egypt and formerly of Cobden, Ill., died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Marion Memorial Hospital in Marion, Ill.
She was born Aug. 29, 1938, at Alto Pass, Ill., the daughter of Ernie and Gussie McKinney Dehart.
She married Donald Ray Shadowens on July 20, 1974, at Cobden. He survives.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alto Pass, the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post 3455 in Anna, Ill., and the ladies auxiliary of Moose Lodge 1346.
She worked at the Obernester Glass Co. in East St. Louis, Ill., for many years and also had owned with her husband the Tip Top Tap in Cobden.
She also is survived by two sons, Jack Shadowens and Terry Shadowens, both of Cobden; a daughter, Nancy Aldridge of Bonner Springs, Kan.; a sister, Barbara Morrison of Cobden; a special friend, Sandy Manuel of Lake of Egypt; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, five brothers and a stepson.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Carl Land officiating.
Burial will be at the Alto Pass Cemetery.
