Ruth G. Schlegel, 89, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, in Lawrenceville. She was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Garrett A. and Emma M. Bollinger Seabaugh. She and Norman C. Schlegel were married Nov. 10, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church in San Diego. After 62 years of being devoted and supportive of each other, Norman preceded her in death Oct. 21, 2007...

Ruth G. Schlegel, 89, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, in Lawrenceville.

She was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Garrett A. and Emma M. Bollinger Seabaugh. She and Norman C. Schlegel were married Nov. 10, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church in San Diego. After 62 years of being devoted and supportive of each other, Norman preceded her in death Oct. 21, 2007.

The Schlegels resided in Cape Girardeau where Norman worked for R.B. Potashnick, and Ruth enjoyed gardening and working outdoors. She was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, and after relocating to Georgia, was a valued member of Gwinnett Community Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Richard Jarvis Jr. of Snellville, Georgia; two grandchildren, Richard (Tracy) Jarvis III and Paula (John) VandenOever; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, James R. "Bob" Seabaugh.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark Lutheran Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruth's life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Southeast Hospice or the American Heart Association.
