CHARLESTON -- Ruth Ann Sanford, 55, of Charleston, died suddenly Sunday, July 7, 1996, at her home, of an apparent heart attack.
She was born Jan. 18, 1941, in Charleston, daughter of Russell and Ardell Straughter Smith. She married Charlie Sanford.
Sanford was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Charles Smith of Charleston, William Smith of Rock Island, Ill.; three daughters, Earlene Pratt of Rock Island, Frankie Smith and Ruth Frazier of Charleston; four brothers, Sherwood Cross Jr., Herman and Donnie Straughter of Charleston, Marshall Straughter of Aurora, Ill.; six sisters, Margaret Hassel and Clara Johnson of St. Louis, Wilma Straughter, Georgia Straughter and Beverly Jones of Charleston, Ava Hughes of California; 13 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Seventh-Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Roosevelt Williams officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
