Ruth A. Rainey, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born April 23, 1928, at Zadock, daughter of Freeman and Mary Rampley Strobel. She and Hubert D. Rainey were married Sept. 21, 1945, in Piggott, Ark. He died Dec. 1, 1983...

Ruth A. Rainey, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born April 23, 1928, at Zadock, daughter of Freeman and Mary Rampley Strobel. She and Hubert D. Rainey were married Sept. 21, 1945, in Piggott, Ark. He died Dec. 1, 1983.

Rainey had worked at International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau, and taught at Coker School in Egypt Mills. After the death of her husband she owned and operated Rainey's Propane Gas until Dec. 31, 1999.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Chris Rainey of Memphis, Tenn., Phillip Rainey of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Debbie Hall and Cecilia Anderson of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Arthur Strobel of Joplin; a sister, Delores Griffin of Advance; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with David Bragg officiating. Burial will be in Hobbs Chapel Cemetery, with Bryan McAlister officiating.
