MOUNDS, Ill. -- Funeral for Ruth Nixon of Mounds will be held at 1 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerry Herring will officiate, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.
Crain Funeral Home of Ullin is in charge of arrangements.
Nixon, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
She was born April 26, 1923, in Pulaski, daughter of H.E. and Grace Corzine Smoot. She and Jay S. Nixon were married Sept. 14, 1946. He died Dec. 29, 1984.
Nixon was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mounds Women's Club, an extension Club, and was superintendent of textile exhibits at Pulaski County Fair.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Nixon of Monticello, Thomas Nixon of Mounds; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
