BERTRAND, Mo. -- Ruth Monahan, 102, of Bertrand died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at Bertrand Nursing Center.
She was born July 15, 1916, in Greenwood, Arkansas, to Oad and Bell Robbins Cook. She and Lee Monahan were married Feb. 13, 1935, at Caddo Gap, Arkansas.
She was a cook at Sunny Hill Restaurant for 20 years.
She quilted for many years and was an avid gardener.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Jimmie (Marvalee) Monahan of Thebes, Illinois; three sisters, Ruby Willis of Burlington, Washington, Imogene Knaup of Kansas and Louise Campbell of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Ernestine Webber and Deborah Monahan; two sons, Otis and Joel Monahan; a brother; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at noon Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Monahan officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Illinois.
