Ruth V. Marshall, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at Ratliff Care Center. She was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Salem, Missouri, to Arley and Opal Mounce Roberts. She and John E. Marshall were married March 25, 1951, at Potosi, Missouri. Ruth was the manager of Sprigg Street Manor for 28 years from 1984 to 2012...

Ruth V. Marshall, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at Ratliff Care Center.

She was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Salem, Missouri, to Arley and Opal Mounce Roberts. She and John E. Marshall were married March 25, 1951, at Potosi, Missouri.

Ruth was the manager of Sprigg Street Manor for 28 years from 1984 to 2012.

She loved music, especially gospel, as well as country and western -- loved to listen to the Grand Ole Opry. She enjoyed embroidery, cooking and collecting dolls.

Ruth also loved her family and enjoyed visiting. She had a very positive attitude, was most patient and didn't complain. She made every holiday a special day for the residents at Sprigg Street Manor.

She attended Cape First.

Survivors include her brother, Larry (June) Roberts of Doniphan, Missouri; her sisters, Grace (Vernon) Brewer of House Springs, Missouri, Arlene (Bob) Held of Festus, Missouri, Emmagene (Carlos) Ratliff of Cape Girardeau and Sharon (Rick) Schmitt of Festus; one stepgranddaughter; one stepgrandson; 13 nephews and nieces; 38 great-nephews and great-nieces; and 36 great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Edward Lynn Marshall; brother, Kenneth Roberts; sisters, Bernice Ross and Shirley Beecham; and one niece, Linda Hollmann.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Lance officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
