TAMMS, Ill. -- Ruth May Phillips, 89, Tamms Route 1, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1994, at the home of a daughter. She was born March 1, 1904, near McClure, daughter of Charles and Mollie Kaufman Benefield. She and Everett Phillips were married Dec. 19, 1922. He died Nov. 20, 1986...

TAMMS, Ill. -- Ruth May Phillips, 89, Tamms Route 1, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1994, at the home of a daughter.

She was born March 1, 1904, near McClure, daughter of Charles and Mollie Kaufman Benefield. She and Everett Phillips were married Dec. 19, 1922. He died Nov. 20, 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Jewell Tinsley of Tamms; three sons, Eugene and Stanley Phillips of Tamms, Charles Phillips of Dixon; 12 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Chapel in Tamms. The Rev. John Kern will officiate, with burial in Phillips Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
