BERNIE, Mo. -- Ruth Nell Lovins, 79, of Bernie, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Dexter Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1921, at Marble Hill, Mo., daughter of Elsworth and Nora Edna Teeters Leadbetter. She and James Alex Lovins were married Oct. 12, 1933, at Kennett, Mo...

BERNIE, Mo. -- Ruth Nell Lovins, 79, of Bernie, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Dexter Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 29, 1921, at Marble Hill, Mo., daughter of Elsworth and Nora Edna Teeters Leadbetter. She and James Alex Lovins were married Oct. 12, 1933, at Kennett, Mo.

Lovins was a homemaker and had worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Bernie. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Community Garden Club and the Extension Club.

Survivors include her husband; a son, James Charles Lovins of Bernie; three daughters, Joyce Marie Hicks of St. Louis, Linda Ruth Miller and Kathy Ann Cagle, both of Bernie; three half brothers, Holbert Leadbetter, Jerry Leadbetter and Don Leadbetter all of St. Louis; two half sisters, Lelia Jane Jones of Advance, Mo., and Cleda McCulley of Mantena, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Ronald Lovins will officiate, with burial in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter, Mo.
