ORAN, Mo. -- Ruth L. Cheek, 86, of Oran died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
She was born April 26, 1914, at Cape Girardeau, daughter of Arthur and Louella Seabaugh McMillan. She and Jim Cheek were married Nov. 4, 1933. He died July 9, 1977.
She was a retired manager at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Oran.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star 342 of Morley, Mo., Order of the Amaranth-Cape Court 14, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Ladies Auxiliary of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Ladies Auxiliary of Chaffee VFW Post.
Survivors include two sons, Don Cheek of Schereville, Ind., and Dorris Cheek of Leawood, Kan.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. today. Amaranth service will follow at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Watis Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Garden near Morley.
