OLMSTED, Ill. -- Ruth Hogendobler Hughes, 84, of Olmsted died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Daycare Health Care Center in Cairo, Ill.
She was born Oct. 21, 1916, at Olmsted, daughter of E.C. and Georgie Clavin Hogendobler. She and Marcus L. Hughes were married May 14, 1933, at Mayfield, Ky. He preceded her in death.
She was director of homemakers for the Department of Public Aid and a member of TIP for the Illinois Executive Board. She was also a member of the Home Extension Association, Olmsted United Methodist Church, Olmsted United Methodist Women, Olmsted Historical Society and a member for more than 50 years of the Order of Eastern Star, Grand Chain Chapter No. 710.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Hughes of Atlanta, Ga., Clayton Hughes of Buckley, Ill., Dale Hughes of Pennfield, Ill.; two daughters, Donna Rose of Olmsted, Margaret Stillwell of Mahomet, Ill.; two sisters, Doris Jones of Kansas City, Mo., and Elaine Ferguson of Chesterfield, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, Ill., from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Steve Heisner will officiate, with burial in the Masonic Cemetery in Olmsted.
