Ruth Barker

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Ruth Naomi Greer Barker, 71 years, 1 month and 6 days, of East Prairie passed away at 6:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at her home.

Born on Aug. 27, 1943, in New Madrid County to the late Herschel and Lottie Hyslip Moriarty, Ruth lived most of her life in East Prairie, where she worked as a nurse for Dr. A.L. Weaver and later worked at the Division of Family Services.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie. On July 3, 1961, she married Joe Greer, who preceded her in death June 12, 2012. On Jan. 29, 2013, she married Kelly Baker, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Marla and Scott Teter of Cumming, Georgia, and Sandy Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina; a stepdaughter, Melinda Gee of Charleston, Missouri; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Randle and Paty Moriarty of Mexico, Missouri, and Buddy and Beverly Moriarty of Houston; a sister, Freda Johnson of St. Peters, Missouri; six grandchildren, Nathan and Cole Teter, Jessica, Erin, Libby and Zachary Johnson; two step-grandchildren, Everett and Barker Gee; and a host of relatives and many friends.

Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the First Christian Church in East Prairie.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at the church, conducted by Brother Martin Lucas. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Pallbearers will be Joe Helms, Larry Britt, Bill Munger, J.C. Abner, Tim Vick, Todd Vick, Dr. Jimmy Heath and James Albert Furlong.

Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
