Ruth Balsman

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Ruth M. Balsman, 83, of Perryville died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Festus, Mo.

She was born July 18, 1925, in Perry County, daughter of the late Rosati J. and Magdaline M. Moore Moore. She was married to Raymond F. Balsman June 9, 1945.

Mrs. Balsman was a secretary at Balsman Insurance Agency.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ann C. (Raymond F.) Davis of Gilbertsville, Ky.; two sons, David (Debbie) Balsman and Terry (Bobbi) Balsman, all of Perryville; a brother, Rosati "Jr." Moore of Perryville; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rosalie Unterreiner; an infant brother, Joseph R. Moore; and stepfather, Freddie Zahner.

Ruth was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Ladies Sodality and Daughters of Isabella.

Memorials are preferred for Masses, St. Vincent Schools or Kidney Foundation.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 6:30 to 11:40 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. The wake will be at 7:50 p.m. Friday. The rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
